With all the trauma and violence going on in my country, I haven’t been able to write for a while. I’ve been having sleepless nights and my head hurts so bad when I see all that has happened within one month! Sometimes, I wish it was a horror movie— so that I can wake up and realize it was all a bad dream. My only prayer is that everything works out well and we get the good governance that we deserve.
To every life that was lost, I pray God comforts your families, gives peace and restore hope in your various homes. Amen.
Life is short, that’s the truth. What actually matters is how you choose to live it. Throughout our lives we keep rising and falling, that’s why it’s necessary we pick up important lessons along the way. Life is a continuous learning experience. There are many life lessons that we simply cannot learn until we face certain situations in our life, like what Nigeria is experiencing.
There is a significant difference between practical and theoretical experience. Seeing innocent lives wasted is not something you’d wish to see. Here are some of the lessons I’ve learnt so far and most people learn the hard way.
1. For Every Action, There’s An Equal Opposite Reaction
Treat each word with caution. Before you say something or act in a certain way, think about the consequences. Don’t always jump into conclusion. We hear and see things everyday, through different source. Always have it in mind, that not everything we see on the media is true. Confirm such stories or facts before sharing it on your part.
2. Experience Is The Best Teacher
Experience is often the best teacher in our personal lives. Often we learn more from something going wrong than from something going right. This is not usually the case in some persons normal life where–after a major events product failure, downsizing crisis, many stumble along, blind to the lessons for learning. Thus, mistakes get repeated, but smart decisions do not; there is no method of distilling good decisions from bad. Most important of all, the flawed ways of thinking are never discussed or revealed, remaining in place to give birth to new disasters.
The truth is that, we learn best from our experience, and must seek to understand how these experiences are never directly linked in a ‘cause and effect’ equation. You could learn a lot about your experience from the evolution.
If everything was PERFECT, you would never learn and you would never GROW.
